Lead Generation through Social Networking

Social Networking is fast becoming the new method of generating leads for home business owners.  There is no better way to meet new people who have the same interests and goals.  Communities like Facebook, MySpace, Squidoo and Twitter have powerful lead generation capabilities that can help drive traffic as well as expand the promotion of YOUR internet brand.

Squidoo, not just a content site but a Powerful and Diverse Community of Potential Customers.

Take Squidoo for example.  Originally this site was designed to allow people to create what is called a Lens on any topic of interest or expertise they might have.  If you have an expertise in "How To Change Out the Motor of a 1967 Ford Mustang" then you could create a lens and share your knowledge with the community and internet.  Or, if you knew all there was to know about "Hydrangeas and How To Care for Them", then a Squidoo Lens would be a great way share your passion.

Today, Squidoo has become an incredible tool for Social Networking and Lead Generation to home business owners.  Not only do people now promote their business opportunities through lens's they can connect with other folks who have the same goals and desires.  Connecting with like minded people creates the opportunity to exchange ideas and promote products or services between the community.

Is MySpace only for kids?

Most people who have kids 10 and up have heard of MySpace, it's the medium that young people use to connect with friends.

I remember my 11 year old daughter creating her first MySpace page and learning what she intended to use it for.  I asked her, "Why would need to do that when you could just call your friend Becca on the phone, she lived just down the street."  Dad wasn't very smart back then.  Today, my daughter has a community group built up of over 500 friends, some right here in our community, some across the country.  That's social networking in it's simplest form.

MySpace though is no longer considered a site for only kids.  Today, some of the top performers, in many different marketing disciplines, have MySpace pages and are building large communities of people interested in the same things they are and generating leads to their business opportunities.

Lead Generation through Social Networking is only Effective if Done Correctly.

Even though generating leads with social networking can be an extremely effective tool to build a work from home business, if not approached correctly, it could backfire and cause implications to other components of your online marketing plan.

Three Tips for Social Networking Success:

  1. NEVER Spam your Community
  2. Focus on the Relationships FIRST
  3. Provide VALUE in your message

Learning the ins and outs of social networking is an important step in the overall plan of online marketing and ultimately your home business success.
